Since the attempted coup last July, the media in Turkey has been under unprecedented pressure to avoid critical coverage of the government. Hundreds of journalists have been imprisoned, and many outlets have been shuttered. Despite the hostile environment, Turkish cartoon magazine have continued their long tradition of incendiary commentary. VICE News speaks with three cartoonists about continuing to push the bounds of political discourse on the eve of the constitutional referendum that could further cement President Erdoğan’s control of the country.
