Earlier this week the House Appropriations Committee sent a bill (HR3362) to the House floor that would cut US foreign aid by about $10 billion. Included in the bill was an expansion of the policy announced by the Trump administration earlier this year, the so-called “global gag rule”, which cuts funding to any foreign NGO that provides abortion services, referrals, or counseling, or that advocates for abortion.
Trump’s global gag rule has tremendous consequences for female reproductive health around the world. VICE News went to Malawi to investigate the impact of this policy change.
