A North Miami Beach police officer has been arrested, accused of refusing to take off a mask. Apparently he wore a black cape and the Guy Fawkes mask, holding a flagpole with an upside down U.S. flag.
The accused officer told police he was protesting Obamacare, but still he “was asked several times to remove his mask and produce some form of identification or tell us his name,” the report states, “He refused each time.”
The report does not say whether any other protesters were there during the incident, which seems to be odd in the least. The man wouldn’t tell police who he was, “stating his anonymity was his cause”
He only identified himself saying, “I’m a cop, I’m a cop,” once police found located his sidearm in his right waistband and ordered him not to make any sudden movements.
He was charged with obstruction of traffic, and wearing a hood or mask on a street. He wasn’t jailed, although he was given a notice to appear in court.
Internal Affairs sergeants went to the Plantation Police Department to collect his badge and police identification. Harrell, a 15-year veteran of the department, has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
