These days, it seems like we’re completely bombarded by all sorts of different labels at the grocery store telling us about how ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ everything is. It began in 2002 when the USDA’s National Organic Program opted to simply standardize wildly varying practices and make sure all the producers played by the same rules. The end results are all these labels we see at the grocery.
So what’s the difference between organic and 100% organic? What’s the difference between cage free and free range? Don’t these labels mean basically the same thing? Sadly, no. A lot of it is word play by the industry to trick you into thinking one thing over another. Here’s the real deal.
