A man allegedly slammed into a pole with a traffic camera mounted on it.
When the pole landed in the back of his pickup truck, police say he drove off with it.
The photo was shared on Twitter:
Arnold Romero, a paramedic who saw it unfold, told CBS Sacramento:
“The pole ended up flipping over into the back of the bed of the vehicle … the vehicle sped off and actually stopped at the next light and turned the corner from there and took off,”
The man allegedly tried to get rid of the camera, claiming he was late for work.
The man was charged with a hit-and-run traffic collision and grand theft.
The camera and pole have been recovered, and the city says repairs will cost several thousand dollars.
