Lawmaker Calls on National Guard to “Gather Up” Refugees and Put them in Detention Camps

As governors across the United States publicly deny refuge to the Syrian citizens who’ve been displaced entirely as a result of US foreign policy, some would-be neo-Nazis want to take it a step further.

Tennessee state Representative, Glen Casada, the chairman of the House Republican Caucus in the state Legislature, wants to use military power to seek out the current refugees already in the states and round them up.

“If I err, it will be on the side of not having another Paris, France,” said Casada in an interview with NPR. “When we let them in, we are letting terrorists in.”

“We gather them, we take them back to ICE,” said Casada. “We say, ‘gentlemen, make sure these guys have no tie to terrorist activity.’ ”

For those not familiar, ICE stands for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the place Casada wants to ‘take them back to’ are strategic Detention Facilities across the country.

Women and small children be damned, no one is safe until all brown foreigners are locked behind bars.

Casada doesn’t want to only go after recent refugees either. He proposes a massive surveillance apparatus be deployed against all refugees.

“I think we should not limit our response,” he said to NPR in a tone reminiscent to that of President Roosevelt who ordered the Incarceration of Japanese Americans During World War II.

In a moment of rationality, one Tennessee lawmaker disagreed. “This unethical and irresponsible proposal to utilize military personnel to round up men, women and children should serve to truly shock our state’s collective conscience,” Rep. John Ray Clemmons said.

While Casada’s views may sound extreme, he echoes the sentiment of cowards across the country who are so scared of ISIS that they would turn away children who are trying to escape them. This cowardly and fearful mindset by some Americans is exactly what ISIS wants, and it shows that the terrorists are winning.

Just this week, presidential hopeful Donald Trump called for “shutting down Mosques” and requiring special ID’s for Muslims.

“Some people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling that security is going to rule,” Trump told Yahoo News in an interview.

“Certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy,” he added. “We’re going to have to do things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.”

Sadly, the sentiment in the United States reverberates that mentality as once decent people now look at all Muslims as potential suicide bombers. The dangerous dehumanization of an entire culture has begun and the effects of such a mindset are ominous to say the least.

Fear reigns supreme over the minds of those dependent upon the state for security. If history tells us anything, it’s that terror, whether real or perceived, will make the masses putty in the hands of those who seek to rule over humanity.
