Operation Mockingbird was a secret Central Intelligence Agency campaign to influence media to promote false propaganda or spin stories. Using your taxpayer money to lie and control the direction of your thought. I call that mind control. Operation Mocking Bird was the brainstorm project of Frank Wisner in 1948. In the 1950s he recruited Cord Meyer and Allen W. Dulles who are listed as the “principal operatives” of Operation Mockingbird.
According to the Congress report published in 1976:
“The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets.”
By the year 1953 Operation Mockingbird had major control over 25 newspapers and wire agencies. These organizations were run by people with well-known right-wing views such as William Paley (CBS), Henry Luce (Time and Life Magazine), Arthur Hays Sulzberger (New York Times), Alfred Friendly (managing editor of the Washington Post), Jerry O’Leary (Washington Star), Hal Hendrix (Miami News), Barry Bingham, Sr., (Louisville Courier-Journal), James Copley (Copley News Services) and Joseph Harrison (Christian Science Monitor).
Even Rolling Stone claimed that a journalist Joseph Alsop was under the control of Operation Mockingbird in 1977. His articles appeared in over 300 different newspapers. Other journalists alleged by Rolling Stone Magazine to have been willing to promote the views of the CIA included Stewart Alsop (New York Herald Tribune), Ben Bradlee (Newsweek), James Reston (New York Times), Charles Douglas Jackson (Time Magazine), Walter Pincus (Washington Post), William C. Baggs (The Miami News), Herb Gold (The Miami News) and Charles Bartlett (Chattanooga Times). According to Nina Burleigh (A Very Private Woman), these journalists sometimes wrote articles that were commissioned by Frank Wisner. The CIA also provided them with classified information to help them with their work.
Watch this great hearing in 1976 on “How many CIA are in our Media”.
So the history of the government using your tax money to sometimes report false news to convince or hide things from the public goes back further than most think.
In Abby’s video below you will see them fill a whole building up with CIA who surf the internet to relentlessly defending current administration politics in chatrooms and on social networking sites with fake accounts. They will defend current administration decisions with relentless irrational stubbornness that one can only be paid to do. Of course you would have to pay someone if Americans are refusing to support an ideology. Unlike Libertarianism which is beginning to freely sweep across America and even here in Wisconsin.
Abby Martin of RT’s Breaking the Set covered in January on todays Operation Mocking Bird and how the Government uses your tax money to control your mind! Welcome to the matrix!
Now this is where it gets interesting. The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012, passed as part of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, will allow the CIA to flood America with more government propaganda. Well now openly anyway. They are now telling us they will be lying to us on purpose to misguide and push their agenda. They are openly admitting to crime.
At the same time on the other side of town…
Now the DOD is making public announcement that They will stop the lying. Alternative free press journalism and citizen action journalists in combination with the internet are getting news out faster than the dinosaur media can get the truth fabricated. They stated Drudge Report as a main reason. Drudge also posts articles by Alternative Free Press Giants Infowars and news source Breitbart.
Douglas Adams once wrote in a novel that “Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.” I believe this is a great example of this.
In the video below you can hear the claim
“..we cannot hide our bad news stories. Bad news gets out one way or the other and we must come to terms with telling bad stories as well as the good,” the secretary of defense for public affairs, George Little, stated at the Defense Media Activity’s headquarters on Fort Meade in Maryland.
“When bad things happen, the American people should hear it from us, not as a scoop on the Drudge Report,” Little said.
During question and answer time , Staff Sgt Hostutler, a junior enlisted member of Air Force production, expressed that many in her position feel that because of recent outcries of negative publicity, the American people are just not buying their stories anymore, making it difficult to effectively spin news in their favor.
“My question is: you mentioned that we need to start telling the story about the bad news as well as the good, and the issue I see that we’re facing… It seems like we have this culture in our career to kinda glaze over these issues and put out this positive press, and “No, our jets are fine,” and so with the good and the bad, I don’t think the American people actually trust us to deliver accurate information.
“What’s the plan to change that in the way ahead, because to continue the way we have, to continue to put that positive spin, it feels like we’re losing a lot of our audience because they’re not listening, because we keep saying the same thing over, everything is okay, and it’s not…
“… Is there a plan to kinda change the way that we think? Because as it is, a lot of people, from what I can see, are going through, “We’re putting out mindless propaganda,” is what some of us feel that we’re putting out and what the American people feel that we’re putting out, so how do we change this?”
How hard do you think they are trying to be honest with these sort of actions? Hypocrisy at its finest. Notice Operation Mocking Bird started just after the Bilderberg Group was in action.
