*UPDATE* Facebook went offline internationally for approximately 15 minutes.

A Facebook spokesperson said: ‘Earlier this morning, we experienced an issue that prevented people from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time.

‘We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.’

Users reported the site is functioning again.

Facebook crashed in the US in February this year, after previously going offline for four hours in October last year due to network maintenance.

The network has 1.3 billion monthly active users, making it one of the most popular websites in the world.

The social network wasn’t working on web or mobile platforms, and even its developer platform was down.

Facebook is yet to offer an explanation on its own site or via Twitter.
