According to a recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) document entitled Ammunition Purchases Have Declined Since 2009the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is contracted to purchase 704,390,250 additional rounds of ammunition over the next four years, which is equivalent to  10,000 rounds per DHS agent. The DHS only operates domestically on American soil.

Department of Homeland Security was originally organized with the intent to keep us safe from foreign enemies on American soil. It has since been used to target target political activists and returning veterans. Homeland Security now even considers returning veterans as potential “domestic terrorists” .  Why would we target returning veterans? Who is more patriotic than them?

In other questionable purchases the DHS recently made purchases for 7,000 full-auto assault rifles2,717 “Navistar Defense” armored vehicleshalf a million dollars worth of fully automatic pepper spray launchers10,000 bulletproof check pointsriot expansion kits and an order for over 1.6 Billion rounds of ammo, many of which are hollow point ammo not used for practice, but for maximum kill ratio.

David Maurer, author of the GAO had this to say:

If DHS were to purchase all 704 million rounds over the next four years, and if they were used by 70,000 DHS agents and officers, it would be roughly 2,500 rounds per agent per year,”

That would be higher than what we saw in past years at DHS and higher than the average annual number of rounds per agent or officer at the Department of Justice (DOJ),” he said.

The 704,390,250 number of rounds is like a ceiling or credit limit which DHS wouldn’t have to fully execute,” said Maurer.
