Despite Relentless Attacks from Frightened U.S. Tyrants, Wikileaks is Back and Bigger than Ever

Despite the best efforts of the US government to shut down WikiLeaks, the organization has grown stronger and is now “drowning in material,” according to founder Julian Assange. He claims to have over 10 million documents, including those on secret trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which would further centralize copyright law and threaten the work of journalists and whistleblowers.

According to Spiegel, who recently interviewed Assange,

WikiLeaks is back — releasing documents proving United States surveillance of the French government, publishing Saudi diplomatic cables and posting evidence of the massive surveillance of the German government by US secret services.

In an interview with the German newspaper Spiegel, Assange describes the critical function of his organization in this era of mass surveillance and secrecy:

“WikiLeaks is a giant library of the world’s most persecuted documents. We give asylum to these documents, analyze them, promote them and obtain more. WikiLeaks has more than 10 million documents and associated analyses now.”

The flood of documents came after WikiLeaks set up a new submission system, which was made possible after overcoming a US-led banking blockade that cut off 90% of its finances. MasterCard broke ranks with the other megabanks, allowing the resumption of donations after the Icelandic Supreme Court ruled in WikiLeaks’ favor.

It seems that people are eagerly using the new system to help expose the deep corruption of leading nation-states. The latest released documents provide more evidence of NSA spying on the German government, and demonstrate how the US undermines its closest allies for its own gain.

James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, formally approved the policy to target the German government. There were three areas that were targeted in the material we have published so far: German political affairs, Eurpoean policies and economic affairs. None of the 125 number we released is listed as being targeted for “terrorism” or military affairs. The US is in the business of managing an extended empire. The ability to prevent Merkel from constructing a BRICS bailout fund for the euro zone by intercepting the idea at an early stage is an example.

WikiLeaks is also proving to be an important source of information for three giant trade agreements that may represent the ultimate triumph of corporatism—the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP); the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP); and the Trade in Services Agreement (TISA).

WikiLeaks has become the place to go to leak parts of these agreements that are now under negotiation. These agreements are a package that the US is using to reposition itself in the world against China by constructing a new grand enclosure. We are seeing something that would result in a tighter economic and legal integration with the United States, which draws Western Europe’s center of gravity away from Eurasia and towards the United States, when the greatest chance for long-term peace in Eurasia is its economic integration.
