It turns out congress was aware of the NSA spying all along. Cheney actually met with congress over the NSA and congress had the following to say.

Congress INSISTED they NOT be briefed on NSA surveillance when asked about it by Cheney.

“Cheney said he met and briefed congressional leaders whom he did not identify about three years after the program started and they were “unanimous” that it should continue.”

“I said, ‘Do you think we ought to come back to the Congress in order to get more formal authorization?’ and they said, ‘Absolutely not.’ Everybody, Republican and Democrat, said, ‘Don’t come back up here, it will leak’,” Cheney said.

Now its time to call/email your congressional representative and give them an ear full that we will not have this in our country. That you will vote them out!
