Currently, 70% of the United States is overweight; however, it seems as though the public is finally deciding to make healthy living a priority. McDonald’s used to have very stable stocks, but now they are taking a massive decline as more and more familiar are boycotting the garbage fast food chain. With the recent news, McDonald’s CEO stepped down and sales continued to decline.
The world largest restaurant chain has been attempting to appease the public with new board members and fancy advertising campaigns, but it seems like they’re losing their grip on the public.
Maybe it is due to their irresponsible business practices like sourcing meat from factory farms who inject their chickens with growth hormones and using low-quality, pesticide-laden crops for their meals.
Whatever happens to be pushing customers away, it seems to be pretty obvious that they won’t be stopping back anytime soon. Here’s what Business Insider Had to say about the decline in McDonald’s stock:
“On Monday, McDonald’s reported global same-store sales that declined 2.2% month on month. This missed analysts’ expectations for a 1.7% decline. In the US, the story was even worse for the fast-food giant as same-store sales fell 4.6%.
The disappointing numbers from McDonald’s come as the chain faces increasing competition from restaurants like Chipotle. Last week we noted that even the Federal Reserve’s fieldwork on the US economy showed the consumer shift toward outlets like Chipotle and away from chains like McDonald’s.”
