Police shoot twice as many people as we realized (HBO)

A nine-month VICE News investigation found that police shoot Americans far more often than previously understood. More than half the people shot by cops survive, and their stories rarely factor into conversations about police violence.

When VICE News counted these survivors, we found cops in the country’s largest departments had shot at more than 4,000 people in the last seven years.

This segment originally aired December 14, 2017 on VICE News Tonight on HBO.
